PetrichorPages End User License Agreement (EULA)

Last updated: October 14, 2026

This End User License Agreement (“Agreement”) is a legal agreement between you (“you”) and Petrichor Pages LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) for the PetrichorPages desktop software for Windows and macOS, including its updates, documentation, built-in features such as the Petrichor Places map maker, and any add-ons you obtain for it (together, the “Software”).

By installing, activating, or using the Software, you agree to this Agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.

1. License

Subject to this Agreement, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software on the number of devices your license key allows (Section 3), to write, format, and prepare books and other publications. You may use it for personal or commercial publishing, including books you sell.

2. Ownership

The Software is licensed, not sold. We keep all rights, title, and interest in the Software, including its code, design, themes, artwork, ornaments, drop caps, edge designs, and other content we supply. This Agreement does not give you rights to our name, logos, or trademarks.

Your work is yours. You keep all rights to the manuscripts, text, images, fonts, and other content you create or bring into the Software. We claim no ownership of your writing or your finished books.

3. License keys and devices

  • Each app license key may be activated on up to three (3) devices at a time, unless a different number was stated when you bought it.
  • You can free a device slot yourself from the app’s License menu before moving to a new computer.
  • You may not share, sell, rent, lend, sublicense, or otherwise transfer your license key, except to move it between your own devices as described above.
  • The Software checks your license with our server from time to time. An internet connection is needed to activate. If our server can’t be reached, the Software keeps working for a grace period of up to 14 days before it needs to check again.
  • We may revoke a license key that was obtained by fraud, refunded, charged back, or used in breach of this Agreement. Revoking an app license also ends access to add-ons bought with that key.

4. Add-ons

We sell add-ons that work inside the Software, including themes, drop-cap sets, forced edge designs (including ready-made dual edge designs), and add-on tools such as Custom Forced Edge and Dual Forced Edge. Add-ons are tied to your license key. Some are downloaded from the Premium Library; add-on tools you own may download and switch on automatically.

  • Dual Forced Edge is an add-on to Custom Forced Edge and works only when both are owned. Ready-made dual edge designs work on their own.
  • Using add-ons in your books: you may use the artwork and styling of themes, drop caps, ornaments, and edge designs we supply, whether built in or purchased, in books and other publications you create with the Software, and you may sell or distribute those publications in any number of copies with no royalty or extra fee.
  • What you may not do: sell, give away, share, sublicense, or otherwise make our themes, artwork, drop caps, edge designs, or add-on files available to others on their own, outside a publication you created, for example as a template, pack, asset, or design file. Each person who wants to use an add-on needs their own license to it.

5. Your content, uploads, and fonts

You are responsible for everything you put into the Software, including text, images, edge artwork, and fonts you upload. You confirm you have the rights needed to use that content in your publication, including any font licenses that allow embedding in documents. We don’t review or check your content.

The fonts that come with the Software are open-source fonts licensed to us and to you under their own licenses (mostly the SIL Open Font License). Copies of those licenses are included with the Software. Nothing in this Agreement limits your rights under those licenses.

6. Restrictions

You may not, and may not let anyone else:

  • copy, modify, adapt, translate, or make derivative works of the Software, except for the content you create with it;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except where the law expressly allows it despite this restriction;
  • remove or change any proprietary notices;
  • get around, disable, or interfere with license checks, activation limits, add-on ownership checks, or other protections;
  • use the Software or its content to build a competing product or service.

7. Beta features

Some features are marked “beta,” including the Petrichor Places map maker, the EPUB editor, and dual edges. Beta features may be incomplete, may change, or may be removed, and are provided as they are.

8. Updates

We may provide updates but are not required to. The Software can check for updates and, with your permission, download and install them. This Agreement covers updates unless they come with a separate license.

9. Review your files before publishing

The Software helps you format and export files, but you are responsible for checking every PDF, EPUB, Word, and image file before you publish or print it, including page breaks, pagination, images, edges, and special characters. For print books we strongly recommend ordering a proof copy. Printed results, including forced and dual edges, vary between printers and copies.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT EXPORTED FILES WILL BE ACCEPTED BY ANY PRINTER, RETAILER, OR PLATFORM, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.

You are responsible for backing up your manuscripts and drafts.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, OR FOR REPRINTING OR REPUBLISHING COSTS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SOFTWARE AND ADD-ONS IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

Some places don’t allow these exclusions or limits, so some may not apply to you.

12. Termination

This Agreement lasts until it ends. Your rights end automatically if you breach it. When it ends you must stop using the Software and delete your copies. Books you already published with the Software are not affected.

13. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here removes rights you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.

14. Changes

We may update this Agreement. The “Last updated” date above shows when. Continuing to use the Software after a change means you accept the updated Agreement.
